Access and property rights

A few notions about the access rights and the property of each item in a Plone site

Access Rights

The access rights behave as expected. In Plone terms, the contributors are "owners" of their respective areas on the site. The registered visitors are "members" of the site.

In Plone, a folder can be "published", "visible" or "private". When first created, a new item is "visible". If it resides in one of the upper level folders, it becomes visible to all. To render an item hidden to the anonymous visitor (e.g. a item being developed), the best option is to make it "private". In this way , several items still undergoing preparation can reside on the server without being exposed to all.
