The 2.4 GHz band finally approved for R/C in Belgium
The Belgian Institute for Postal Services and Telecommunications finally approves the use of 2.4 GHz apparatus for Radio Control in Belgium
Thanks to the repeated contacts of our administrator Dirk van Lint with the Minister of Sport Bert Anciaux and the offices of the Belgian Institute for Postal Services and Telecommunication, this institute sent us the approval of the use of 2.4 GHz apparatus for the radio control of models.
This decision implies the respect of the norm about "Media Access Control" as mentioned in the TCAM Doc.44 (May 14, 2008) of the TCAM#26. This document concludes that R/C equipment complying with this norm falls in subcategory 22 and qualifies as Class I apparatus.
It is up to the manufacturers of R/C equipment to prove the conformity of their products with this norm. According to our information, all equipment presently available commercially in Belgium conforms with the above mentioned regulations. The use of equipment that does not carry the CE label remains forbidden.
Please also note that the radiated power of 2.4 GHz R/C equipment can reach 200 mW in some parts of the World. Such equipment is prohibited in Europe where the limit of radiated power is 100 mW.
