Official F6A and F6D WAG selection contest
In order to complete our 2008 WAG selection program, I am happy to announce that the "EXOCET Club Hemptinne" organises on Saturday Oct. 25 this year on his field situated Chemin de Jamagne in Hemptinne-lez-Florenne an official national WAG selection contest for F6A (Artistic Aerobatics) and F6D (Hand thrown gliders). This contest is open only to bearers of a valid Belgian FAI sporting licence.
You can see from the current status of the worldwide selection program visible on http://wag2009.free.fr/ciam_sel_rank.htm that Belgian competitors have scored really very well both in F6B (Indoor Aeromusicals) and F6D (Hand Launch gliders). Only the F6A panel does not display Belgian competitors.
F6D
"Hand thrown gliders" is now a well established category in Belgium. This requires no additional comment.
F6A
Please note that the Artistic Aerobatics program is now open to both fixed wing and helicopter aircraft and effectively fuses F6A and F6C rulesets. Both types of models will be judged on identical grounds.
I must stress that the models allowed to participate in the Artistic Aerobatics program are limited in size and weight (2 x 2 m and 5 kg) but that many smaller models can compete with excellent chances to score successfully. At this time, the best placed pilot in the world ranking (Donatas Pauzuolis from Lituania) flies a model of 1.4 m span.
All kind of motoring are allowed : electric motor, combustion engine and even reactors, but liquefied gases or solid propellants are forbidden.
This competition consists of flights on music using an imposed musical program (zip file available on http://wag2009.free.fr/AA/2008_Finals_compulsory_2.zip) and a free program presented by the competitor. The organiser provides the music installation and the competitors have to deposit their musical program on CDROM in accordance with the rules.
I sincerely hope that you will circulate this information as widely as possible, to all clubs of our organisation (VML and AAM) and that these competitions will attract a large number of competitors. Obviously, this first Artistic Aerobatics contest in Belgium will be experimental for most pilots, but lack of experience should not be considered as a deterrent to try and participate. And the final ranking of the best pilots depends on the overall number of participants...
