CIAM

The Belgian Aeromodelers League closely follows the recommendations of the CIAM, the governing body of the FAI. All Belgian aeromodeling competitions are primarily organised according to the Sporting code of the FAI, section 4. An up-to-date version of the code is available here. Please find here the recent documents from the CIAM annual meeting, as well as the International Sporting Calendar

Terms of reference

For all matters, the Sports Commission refers to the Internal Rules of the Belgian Aeromodeling League Duties

The duties of the Sports Commission are as follows :

  • Annual approval of the sporting programmes of each sports section
  • Approval of the selection criteria put forward by each section for the designation of the members of the Belgian delegation at the next FAI World or Continental championships
  • Appeal court in the case of unresolved protests during the sporting season
  • Any other strictly sporting issues inside the league

In the case of unresolved disputes, the League's Sports Commission refers to the Sports Commission of national representative of the FAI (the Belgian Aero Club), and ultimately to the CASI of the FAI.

Chair

The Sports Commission of the Belgian Aeromodeling League is chaired by a person nominated annually by the Board. For the time being, the chaiman in charge is Robert Herzog.

Members

The members of the Sports Commission are as follows:

  • All currently recognised sports Commissaries of the Belgian Aero Club
  • The Section coordinators designated by the Board of the League for the current year
  • The sports directors designated for the current year by the sporting sections during the Annual General Meeting of the Club Delegates. Nominally, there are two such directors for each section. One of them comes from the French part of the organisation (AAM), the other one from the Flemish part (VML)
  • The chairpersons from the regional Sporting Commissions (VML and AAM)

All these persons have one vote when decisions have to be taken. Decisions are taken on the basis of the simple or the absolute majority. Find here the list of VML persons in duty for the current year, and here the list of AAM persons. Another view of the sports managers is here.

This Commission gathers in principle twice per year. The first meeting is held a few weeks before the annual meeting of the CIAM, the Sports Committee of the FAI. The agenda of this meeting is in principle as follows :

  • Belgian positions regarding the agenda of the upcoming plenary meeting of the CIAM
  • Members of the Belgian delegation at this meeting
  • Any other business

The second meeting is held after the end of the sporting season, and before November the 15th (closing date for the submission of proposals for the CIAM meeting of the following year). The agenda of this meeting is in principle as follows :

    • Closing of the sporting year, section by section
    • Proposals to be presented at the upcoming CIAM plenary meeting (March of the following year)
    • Proposals for the next FAI sporting calendar
    • Proposals for judges of the official list of the FAI for next year
    • Proposals of Belgian experts for the CIAM subcommittees
    • Any other business

Sport sections

Based on the proposals by the board, the delegates gather under the chairmanship of the coordinator for each approved category. All valid members can take part to the decisions on the items on the agenda.

Sporting season

The general organisation of each sporting season is decided upon during the Annual General Meeting of the Club Delegates. All Belgian clubs members of one of the regional "wings" are invited to send delegates to this meeting, in order to participate in the upcoming year's organisation of the sporting season.

  • the designation of the regional sports directors
  • the calendar of the competitions
  • the definition of the selection rules for the accession to team member for the following year
  • the designation of the team members and team manager for the current year championship team. The designation of the team manager is the sole decision of the team members.

The calendar of the current sporting season can be found on the "Categories and Sections" page.
